Sacraments
Sacraments are Nennolina's strength; like few others she faithfully cooperated with the sanctifying Grace that they confer.
Baptism : she received it from the Santa Croce in Gerusalemme's parish priest, on the 28th of December, SS Innocents' Day.
Confession: She was only 5 and a half when she asked her mother to be confessed. She prayed Jesus to find a good confessor because she wanted to become a saint. She prepared herself very hardly, with an accurate examination of her conscience, with great joy and expectation; she knew the parish priest represents Jesus. Her only fear was to offend God.
Holy Communion: Her wish to accept Jesus goes back to when she was about 4.
Later on, in her letters, she wrote to Jesus that her heart was small but very capable of love; accepting Him in her heart she could love Him more. Her greatest joy would have been receiving Him from the hands of the Virgin Mary. She first meets Jesus on Christmas Night, in 1936, with feelings of extraordinary spiritual intensity:
-Adoration, as an acknowledgment of His divinity.
-Thankfulness, for His gift of Himself.
-Offer of gifts for the Holy Host: her pain.
-Request of Grace, for everyone's spiritual wealth.
The people who were at the ceremony, that took place in the Zealot nuns' chapel, were deeply impressed, because the child was transfigured, in an ecstatic adoration of her Jesus, engrossed and motionless. That happened every time. She had understood that life after Holy Communion is the most precious we have, because Jesus Himself is inside us, and if we have faith in Him, He will grant all our wishes.
Confirmation: the burning desire of receiving it was expressed in 14 letters addressed to the Holy Trinity, to Jesus, to the Virgin Mary and to the Holy Spirit. She knew everything about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, so that it was sometimes difficult for her catechist to keep up with her. She received the Sacrament on the 19th of May, 1937.
Extreme Unction: She received it in the middle of June. She calmly said her prayers, she recited the Act of Contrition, and spread her hands towards the priest for him to grease them. They had told her that the Extreme Unction increased Grace.
On the 3rd of July death supervened.
