  Antonietta Meo's prayers

Mysteries of Light (thursday)

1. Jesus' Baptism in the Jordan

Then cometh Jesus from Galelee to Jordan unto John, to baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying: "I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?". And Jesus answering said unto him: "Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness". Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lightning upon him: and lo a voice from heaven, saying: ""This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased".

(Mt 3,13-17)

Nennolina

Dear Jesus on the Cross (...) Oh Jesus!...You who are so good and see that we commit many sins

LET'S PRAY

Almighty and eternal Father, who proclaimed Christ, after His baptism in the Jordan, Your beloved Son, while the Holy Spirit was descending upon Him, let Your children , returned to life from water and from the Spirit, listen to Your Christ as disciples, and let them live forever in Your love.

2. Cana's Wedding Feast

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: and both Jesus was called, and his disciples to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him: "They have no wine". Jesus saith unto her: "Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come". His mother saith unto the servants: "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it". And there were set there six water-pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them: "fill the water-pots with water". And they fill them up to the brim. And he saith unto them: "draw out not, and bear unto the governor of the feast"…this beginnings of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

(Gv 2, 1-11)

LET'S PRAY

O Father, who in Your admirable Providence, wanted to link the Virgin Mary to the mystery of our salvation, make us put into practice what Christ taught us in the Gospels, following the Mother's invitation.

3. The announcement of God's Kingdom with the invitation to conversion

Now after then John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying: "The time is fulfil, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel".

(Mc 1, 14-15)

LET'S PRAY

Lord, with the preaching of the Gospel, let the salvation obtained thanks to Christ's sacrifice be fulfilled everywhere, and let the multitude of Your children obtain from Him, word of truth, the new life of Your Kingdom promised to all men.

4. The Transfiguration of Jesus on the Tabor

[Jesus] took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which should accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus: "Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, one for Moses, and one for Elias". When he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying: "This is my beloved Son: hear him". And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen .

(Lc 9,28-35)

LET'S PRAY

O God, who in the glorious Transfiguration of Christ the Lord, confirmed the mysteries of faith with the evidence of law and of the prophets, and who admirably pre-announced our final adoption as Your children, make us listen to the word of Your beloved Son, to become joint heirs of His immortal life.

5. The institution of the Eucharist

For I [Paul] have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you. That the Lord Jesus in the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: and when he had given thanks, he brake it and said: "Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me". after the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying: "This cup is the new testament in my blood,: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me". For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

(1 Cor 11, 23-28)

LET'S PRAY

O God, Your only Son, before being delivered to death, gave the Church the new and eternal sacrifice, nuptial banquet of His love, make us obtain the fullness of charity and life from the participation to such a great mystery.
